Smart Toolig
The Smart Tooling system was developed to meet the ever-growing need for flexibility among companies. The tooling consists of standard components—such as the fixed head and cooling tank—that can conveniently remain on the extrusion line, alongside custom-made elements — such as the die or dry calibrator—tailored to specific profiles yet manufactured with standard external dimensions, making them perfectly interchangeable. Thanks to its unique features, this line of tooling enables:
- Production of small profile batches with minimal waste
- Ease of use thanks to standardized cooling and suction systems
- Process stability and excellent dimensional and aesthetic results for extruded profiles
- Extremely fast and simple in-line production changeovers
- Highly economical pricing due to the use of numerous standard components.
Fast Tooling
The Fast Tooling system leverages technology used for high-speed window profile extrusion. Drawing on its extensive experience in the design and manufacture of PVC window and door profiles, MC Plast possesses deep expertise in water-based profile calibration using vacuum calibration tanks and calibration plates.
The Fast Tooling series was born from the ingenious idea of adapting the water calibration principle to the production of tooling for technical profiles. In practice, the system utilizes the tanks themselves as calibrators by inserting calibration diaphragms that maintain the profile's shape during cooling.
Furthermore, the tank interiors are designed to create a forced circulation system for the water; this circuit prevents the formation of hot water pockets, ensuring proper, uniform cooling of the extruded profile.
Using tooling based on this principle allows for a longer calibration period compared to traditional systems, guaranteeing excellent dimensional and aesthetic results alongside high production capacity. All this is achieved at a low cost, thanks to the minimal number of dry calibrators required.
Wide Profile Tooling
The Wide Profiles system is the result of extensive experience and research in the field of extruding profiles with cross-sections exceeding 350 mm in width. With an extrusion line capable of producing up to 300 kg/h of rigid PVC — complemented by haul-off and cutting systems designed for profiles up to 400 mm. wide — our company possesses deep expertise in manufacturing tooling for large-scale profiles.
Leveraging this experience and our ongoing research into this type of tooling, we are able to manage high - volume material flows, directing them to the outermost areas of the die while ensuring a perfectly balanced extrudate.
Furthermore, recognizing the challenges involved in calibrating and cooling very wide or bulky profiles, we have engineered calibration systems that identify critical points in the profile and create high-performance cooling and vacuum zones in those specific areas; this allows for effective calibration using standard calibration tables.
Naturally, when the profile design and material require it, the final section of the tooling incorporates calibration tanks developed using "fast-tooling" principles—specifically featuring forced cold-water circulation — to ensure rapid, uniform cooling of the profile.
